Fashion, Family, and the Ties That Bind: BWF Events

From the legacy of a once-grand department store binding mother and daughter to five generations of women and an attic full of beautiful clothes, fashion is permeating some exciting novels this festival.

For those that love family drama stories and who also happen to love fashion, we have a few events for you. On 7 Sept at 4pm, Melissa Fagan discusses her latest book, What Will Be Worn, in conversation with Zenobia Frost. This story is set locally in Brisbane, and the story starts out in the once-celebrated department store, McWhirters, in Fortitude Valley. This multi-generational tale of mothers and daughters is an exquisitely written and poignant reminder of the ways in which retail stores and fashion have connected women’s lives across decades.

Following along the same theme, come and check out Dressing the Dearloves the next day on 8 Sept at 1215pm.
