Here in Carpentaria, there lives the spirit nest of the ancient serpent, a creature larger than storm clouds, who came down from the stars. On top of the snake’s spirit nest, lies Angel’s Palace, the home of Angel Day. Enter a place full of stories, uncover secrets of the land, and discover what home means to you. This special performance for children and families is directed by Alethea Beetson, inspired by Alexis Wright's Miles Franklin-winning novel Carpentaria, and features original artwork by Gordon Hookey.

Alethea Beetson
Alethea Beetson is a kabi kabi/gubbi gubbi + wiradjuri artist and producer who has worked extensively with Indigenous communities across multiple art forms to inspire new works responding to societal issues, cultural heritage and colonisation. More recently she worked as the Indigenous Engagement Coordinator at the Queensland Museum and was the Curator of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander program for Festival 2018 Brisbane. Her research explores the function of ritual resistance and resurgence in the creative development and production of Indigenous performance. Alethea is currently the First Nations Producer of BIGSOUND, Artistic Director of Digi Youth Arts and First Nations Producer of Horizon.
